randomness though, uh, randomness:
I am in love with Anderson Cooper. I mean, I watch his show yesterday and there is just such a... I didn't watch coverage from the last hurricane. I didn't watch a hell of a lot of coverage from this one. But I saw clips of Anderson Cooper last time, when the sign was coming down and he was giddy like a giddy thing, caught up in the wind and the rain and the storm. The rush of adrinaline, when there's a storm raging and your stomach is tight with maybe fear but probably not and the air smells like it's going to come down around you? He looked high on that, and I loved him for it.
The way he's handled this hurricane. The way that he's been on screen with the aftermath of Katrina... It's not possible for me to love him more, really. It's something absolutely beautiful, and not even in an "omghesopretty" kind of a way like it usually is for me. But in the way that this man is not anything less than professional. He's the kind of newscaster you want, when it comes right down to it. He's one that listens to every side, no matter where his views may stand. He doesn't interrupt every chance he gets, he doesn't talk over his guests, he doesn't talk down to his guests, he doesn't assume that they know less than he does. And the giddiness is gone this time around. Yesterday he told a politicion that the people around him were tired of hearing them thank other politicions. He watched a woman walk up to a home she didn't have anymore. He helped her pull a chair out of the ground and he almost cried and he comforted, in whatever small way he could.
Then there was Bill Mahr's show tonight. Where he was.. you know, I don't even have the words for it. Just. Yes. And yes, and yes. "They're not frustrated, they're angry."
So. Everyone watch Anderson Cooper. And hope that one day he decides he's tired of reporting the news and runs for office.
::clears throat::
Now, I'll like shut up and go back to watching House, because Chase is pretty and Wilson really dislikes all of House's underlings and House never tells Wilson no and... Chase is pretty. ::shrugs:: I've got my priorities. But if they rerun Bill Marh (and I'm so not spelling that right, am I?) you should try and watch it. Just because Anderson Cooper smiling is a beautiful thing.
