And here I was planning on doing better about updating my LJ

For those of you who don't have the incredible patients I've no doubt it must take to follow me on twitter (@angelgazing, ftr, if you want to join the insanity) I am in the process of doing something I've dreamed about for as long as I can remember and opening my own restaurant.

It's not going to be anything very big, or very fancy. It's not going to be exactly the place I've imagined for years. But it's going to be mine, and I'm so excited about it I tend to lapse into verbal keysmashing when the subject comes up. (Thank whatever from high atop the thing, honestly, for

gyzym's ability to understand when I speak in keysmash.)

I grew up in a restaurant, because my family owned one from the time I was four until they sold it about 9 years ago. I remember being six and training a new waitress on where the tables were. I remember learning to work the register. I still can't handle cash that isn't all facing the same direction. I remember slicing a billion lemons, and watching my great grandmother make bread, and having cake for breakfast, and buttered sourdough straight out of the oven. The smell of it baking is always going to ping a little bit like home for me. We're naming the new place after her.

Anyway, because I keep flailing like the ridiculous person that I am, and it's going to be a crazy and stupidly long process and also, I know that mostly people are here for fandom, I've decided to go ahead and create a filter for the news/updates/random flail about this and the process and getting it going. That is so exciting, congratulations!! My parents also used to own a restaurant when I was small and I remember helping customers find places like the bathroom ;) Is this endeavor a solo thing or are you doing this with others? Do you cook and what kind of restaurant is it? lol sorry for my enthusiasm and curiosity, you by no means have to answer any of this, but the process of opening a small business has always been intriguing to me because my family's full of them.

Ah, I remember some of the same things from when I was little. That's one of the reasons I've always wanted to get back to it. A kitchen with bread baking is always going to be home to me. ♥ I'm not going into it alone, but most of the day-to-day and running is going to be on my shoulders, so exciting AND terrifying. :DDD

Also, Hawaii 5-0 :) I've only ever seen one ep and I want all the possible fic already. :) You know the one on the kink meme where Arthur and Steve are actualfax brothers, right???

I have a very childish response to life dreams being fulfilled (such as the expectation that there will be butterflies, puppies, and possibly unicorns) so I am truly incredibly glad for you. Okay so I don't know you and you don't know me but I've just stumbled across your journal through random late night clickings and I read this post (because I'm nosy) and something inside of me exploded with warmth (except not in the sexy way but in the happy, excited, gleeful way because yeah, let's keep this platonic, shall we?) when I read about you following your dream and of course I clicked on the "filter me in" because I'm so happy for you, complete stranger or no, and the paragraph you shared about your childhood memories made me smile and even though this is one ridiculous run-on, stream of conscious sentence it's my craptastic way of introducing myself in the attempt to not be a total weirdo because I'm sort of terrible about introducing myself first and then doing completely random things later. I was kind of horrified with myself after clicking "filter me in" and went "Oh my God I don't know this person.What the hell did I just do?" about four seconds afterwards but yes, hi, my grammar and sentence structuring isn't usually this bad, though I do tend to capslock quite a bit when I don't pay close attention to it.

The world at large calls me Amanda or variations there-in. Please don't be appalled if I friend you or follow you on twitter. You have the tenacity to do what you love and I admire that in a person to a ridiculous degree.

Also also: I absolutely love Hawai'i 5-0 (almost as much as I love Criminal Minds), originally because I missed Hawai'i something fierce and more and more as the days go by because it is an awesome show. I've not gotten into the fandom yet because Star Trek has taken over my life but perhaps I shall. Who knows what the future holds?

Capslock is a necessary method of communication as far as I'm concerned. There is no need to apologise for it! I use capslock more than should be allowed as well. That and a lot of emoticons and LOL's/ROTFL's because I'm always laughing at something or another both online and in real life. Laughter is good for the soul though so I don't think it's a character trait I'm bound to put any serious work into changing anytime soon XD

THEY ARE MARRIED. TOTES. And, SHALLOW-TWIN POWERS ACTIVATE, the fact that the four main characters are really good looking (in their own ways) doesn't hurt either.
