and I'm afraid I won't get out alive

You guys, I cannot stop listening to this version of Animal by Neon Trees. I have listened to various forms of this song all day. It has lead to... well, mostly it's led to me, you know, telling [livejournal.com profile] gyzym all the things I would do with a werewolf Arthur story.

So! A poll lacking in specificity!

[Poll #1632163]

Fiiine.
ME IN AIM CHAT WINDOW:
BECAUSE EAMES KNOWS THERE'S SOMETHING MORE THERE
SOMETHING SO VERY WRONG
HE FINDS OUT A FEW MONTHS IN, WHEN ARTHUR SHOVES HIM AWAY SO, SO VIOLENTLY, AND TELLS HIM, SNARLS IT, THAT HE'S DANGEROUS, HE'S UNCONTROLLABLE, HE'S SOMETHING EAMES SHOULD FEAR
BUT THAT'S ALWAYS BEEN TRUE FOR EAMES. EAMES HAS BEEN AFRAID OF ARTHUR SINCE DAY ONE
JUST NOT FOR ANY OF THE REASONS HE SHOULD BE
AND HE WATCHES OLD MONSTER MOVIES THAT NIGHT
THE ONLY LIGHT COMING IN FROM THE FULL MOON OUTSIDE AND THE FLICKERING OF THE SCREEN
HIS HAND WRAPPED AROUND HIMSELF, HIS HEELS SKIDDING, PRESSING HIS SHOULDER HARDER AND HARDER INTO THE MATTRESS JUST TO FEEL THE HURT OF IT AS THE WOLF HOWLS ON THE SCREEN
AND IT'S ECHOED OUTSIDE
AND IT'S JUST ONE MORE IMPROBABLE THING ABOUT ARTHUR
ONE MORE PART OF HIM FOR EAMES TO TRY AND TOUCH

NO NO NO it is not a BAD idea. It is just one of those things which I personally am a bit allergic to. Like mpreg. Both things make me break out in hives. I have hang ups about 'truth' in writing. It is why I cannot cope with sci-fi or anything which feels ooc.

BUT PLEASE PLEASE DON'T APOLOGISE FOR THE CARE BEARS. They make people so happy. NEVER APOLOGISE FOR MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY!

OMG I NOW FEEL LIKE SOME KIND OF DISNEY VILLAIN FOR TAKING THE HAPPY AWAY!!! //////O\\\\\\

LOLOLOL

Well, we just look at 'truth' in writing completely differently, is all. I'm not big on sci-fi, but I like fantasy a lot. It's not about the situation, for me, it's about finding what it is underneath all of that that makes them real, makes them tick, makes them want to fall in love. Or what makes them not want it, even. Take a superhero, and show me what makes the human, that's truth, to me. It's like how I don't love zombie stories for the zombies, I love them for the survival, for the way people can still be people, and can still latch onto each other in the middle of the worst situation you can imagine.

Well, I also love zombies for all the metaphors they bring, but that's another thing altogether.

Um. My point here is: Disney villains aren't real?

No, I do take your point and actually largely agree. Like, superhero stuff is fine by me. And fantasy. I love that. I'm watching 'The Witches of Eastwick' like, as I type this. And certainly there is truth to be written in non-realistic settings. But, mm, with fanfic I just have a little bit of a knee jerk reaction to anthropomorphism. I don't think I can really articulate it beyond "NONO THAT IS WEIRD." Maybe because I like them as people and don't want that interrupted? I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW.

LOOK, AS LONG AS WE AGREE THAT I AM NOT EVIL THAT IS ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS.

LOL I don't exactly jump to anthropomorphism, really. I swear. I have lots of ideas that are other things! Like, um, a story entirely about Eames pulling Arthur's hair. I'm... not sure that's better. LOL But, I don't know, the point for me is always--how are they still the same people, and how are they different, and how good is the writer at reconciling the two? *hands*

I DON'T THINK THAT YOU ARE EVIL. SILLY.

[identity profile] delires.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Take your point. I suppose that is the premise of all AU, right?

A whole story about hair-pulling is fiiiiine. I just wrote a whole story about hiding under a bed. YOU CAN BUILD A STORY AROUND THE MOST TENUOUS IDEAS EVER.
