and I'm afraid I won't get out alive

You guys, I cannot stop listening to this version of Animal by Neon Trees. I have listened to various forms of this song all day. It has lead to... well, mostly it's led to me, you know, telling [livejournal.com profile] gyzym all the things I would do with a werewolf Arthur story.

So! A poll lacking in specificity!

[Poll #1632163]

Fiiine.
ME IN AIM CHAT WINDOW:
BECAUSE EAMES KNOWS THERE'S SOMETHING MORE THERE
SOMETHING SO VERY WRONG
HE FINDS OUT A FEW MONTHS IN, WHEN ARTHUR SHOVES HIM AWAY SO, SO VIOLENTLY, AND TELLS HIM, SNARLS IT, THAT HE'S DANGEROUS, HE'S UNCONTROLLABLE, HE'S SOMETHING EAMES SHOULD FEAR
BUT THAT'S ALWAYS BEEN TRUE FOR EAMES. EAMES HAS BEEN AFRAID OF ARTHUR SINCE DAY ONE
JUST NOT FOR ANY OF THE REASONS HE SHOULD BE
AND HE WATCHES OLD MONSTER MOVIES THAT NIGHT
THE ONLY LIGHT COMING IN FROM THE FULL MOON OUTSIDE AND THE FLICKERING OF THE SCREEN
HIS HAND WRAPPED AROUND HIMSELF, HIS HEELS SKIDDING, PRESSING HIS SHOULDER HARDER AND HARDER INTO THE MATTRESS JUST TO FEEL THE HURT OF IT AS THE WOLF HOWLS ON THE SCREEN
AND IT'S ECHOED OUTSIDE
AND IT'S JUST ONE MORE IMPROBABLE THING ABOUT ARTHUR
ONE MORE PART OF HIM FOR EAMES TO TRY AND TOUCH

YOUR EMOTICON TALENT I CANNOT EVEN.

ALSO YOU MUST DO THIS

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
I HAVE TO HAVE SKILLS SOMEWHERE. IT MIGHT AS WELL BE EMOTICONING.

THE MASSES HAVE YET TO AGREE. I MAY WIN YET. :DDD

[identity profile] pyroclastic.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
I SAY >:( BECAUSE I WANT CUTE FLUFFY BAKERY FIC DAMMIT. AND BECAUSE I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN INCEPTION.

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
THAT BAKERY FIC IS BEING MEAN TO ME. >:( IT'S 6000 WORDS AND IT WENT AND GOT ALL EMO. I COULD SEND YOU WHAT I HAVE AS PROOF, IF YOU WOULD LIKE.

ALSO, SERIOUSLY, INCEPTION IS. I CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU. IT BRINGS ME JOY. AND GLEE, LATELY, JUST MAKES ME WANT TO PUNCH SCHUE/FINN/RACHEL.

[identity profile] pyroclastic.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
LET IT GET ALL EMO. If I'd not let I want to hold your hand get angsty then it never would have been finished. Sometimes fics have different plans and you just need to work it. :3

OKAY SCHUE HASN'T BEEN A TWAT IN TWO EPISODES, FINN WAS KINDA AWESOME TILL GRILLED CHEESUS AND DEAR GOD RACHEL WHERE DID YOU GET A SOUL? So, you know, it's not all bad!

And tbh, the more I see stuff about Inception the more I have a psychological reaction to not want to see it. Totally not your fault (seriously, half of my FList is bugging out about Inception, it seems, and the other about SPN). I did the saaaame thing with the Lord of the Rings when it first came out. It took me a YEAR to actually be bugged into seeing it.

That said, I totally have the DVD screener on my computer so I might crack one of these days. XD

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
BUT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE QUICK AND HAPPY AND FUN! Honestly, I wouldn't mind it getting all emo if it were actually, you know, moving forward. It's like lalalala this is boooring lalalala. So very frustrating. >:(

lol I still haven't seen LotR. But I'm the other way, usually. If I see people I know enjoy the same things I do flailing about something, I tend to want to give it a try. I've found a lot of fandoms that way, and that, IDK, makes me happy, even if it only goes as far as reading it for a few days/weeks.

LOL Of course, I also watch SPN, and will randomly flail about how Sam and Dean are still the boys of my heart. But my god do I avoid that fandom whenever possible. *hands*

I, uh, don't suppose you'd be willing to... share that screener, would you? *bat eyelashes*

[identity profile] pyroclastic.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure it's only boring to you. Plus if all that angst sucks you can just delete it when you edit the first draft. :-P

I'm extremely stubborn. The more someone tells me to do something the more stubborn I am. XD I guess I'd much rather discover things on my own rather than be told to try something. I'm fiercely independent like that and it drives everyone crazy.

I do not touch SPN. The show is crazy, the fans are crazy.... It makes Glee look tame, tbh. XD

If you know of a place I can host it, sure. Megaupload does not like me for some reason, just a warning. The only site I've ever been able to upload to is Mediafire but their file sizes are ridiculously small compared to other sites.

OR if you know how to torrent I can send you the torrent I used. :3

OR I can send you to one of the download comms I used to be a part of before they kicked me out (long story short, they have a Fight Club rule that I apparently didn't know about a few years ago and said their name in like 2007. They googled my username and the community name and kicked me out).

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
...First draft? LOL Man, my writing process is so not that professional. It's mostly me finishing something at an obscene hour of the night/morning, sending to someone and saying, "OMG FIX MY TYPOS, PLEASE, AND I GUESS TELL ME IF IT MAKES SENSE." And then posting it as soon as I can after that before I freak out and delete the entire thing.

I'm the exact same way when I'm being told to do something. lol But I usually want to be in on the excitement anyway. It also helps that I wanted to see Inception from the trailer, though, when I said, "OH, HI, JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT, I WILL TOTALLY SIT THROUGH LEO FOR YOUR MOVIE."

I have noooo idea how to use torrent. Or any site with decent enough file size limitations other than megaupload. :\

[identity profile] pyroclastic.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I'm the only one who shoves a Google doc at my beta and says "OKAY TELL ME IF SHIT SUCKS." and we go through it together. XD

I'm still not allowed to post anything after 2AM, though. Because I tend to miss mistakes that I'd catch if I'd just fucking read it without being tired.

Funny enough, I think I'm the only person who doesn't swoon at JGL. Then again, I fell in love with Leo at a very young age so I may have a bit of a bias toward him. (Hello inappropriate movies to show a 9 year old, let me add Titanic to your list. No lie, I shoulda known I was into girls right then).

Torrent's really easy when you learn how. Do you have a Mac or Windows?

where is the emoticon where I laugh and point at you?

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
It's been staying in your glass house. :p

[identity profile] elucreh.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I think I chose the emoticon closest to smiling cautiously? It would depend on how the lycanthropy was handled, I think...hmmmmmmm...

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
You did! Excellent choice! LOL The lycanthropy, honestly, would probably be handled like I'm still in the Harry Potter fandom. Like Arthur is something dangerous, something people want to use like a weapon. Like every month he gets strung out on the moon when it's heavy and he's barely controlled and Eames just wants every part of him. Like once a month his bones get broken and reshaped and there's nothing Eames can do but wait until he's knit back together. So, barely handled? Badly handled? I... hadn't thought about doing research on that, to be honest. What's the wrong way to handle it? NOW I MUST KNOW.

[identity profile] elucreh.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, like, is Arthur the way he is because he is tightly controlling the rage that comes with his nature? Or is he naturally a quiet, orderly person, who just happens to change at full moon into a ravening beast? Idk that either is necessarily the wrong answer, per se, it would just depend on the quality of the writing and the way the writer fit Arthur into the situation.

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it'd be sort of a bit of both, I think. Arthur is naturally a quiet, orderly person, and that's what makes him crazy about this. He has to try so hard to keep that order, to keep that control because it's not just the rage, it's everything. It's rage, and lust, and the need to claim, and some days, Arthur's just shaking with how tightly he's got himself strung just trying to keep it all in.

And it's Eames, wanting all of it.

[identity profile] delires.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
I CAN'T COPE WITH AAAAALLLLL THE ANTHROPOMORPHISM. I just can't.

OKAY I AM A HYPOCRITE, I KNOW I WROTE THAT CAT STORY BUT THAT WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT, OKAY??? THAT WAS A PROJECTION.

I JUST DON'T LIKE WHEN THEY ARE NOT PEOPLE. THAT IS TOTALLY NOT MY THING. except the pony pictures. because :DDDDDD

In summary: You should write whatever you want to write, regardless of what other people say, but please don't be offended if I don't read about the werewolves. I WOULD STILL LOVE YOU EVEN SO. xxxxxxxx

[identity profile] pyroclastic.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
WEREWOLVES ARE PEOPLE, TOO.

*runs off and cries in a corner*

[identity profile] delires.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY I AM SO BIGOTED! I wish I could change, I really do!

Is there some kind of programme I could enrol in?

[identity profile] pyroclastic.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I DON'T KNOW. I'VE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. D:

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE WRITTEN CARE BEAR FIC! I TOLD [livejournal.com profile] gyzym! I told [livejournal.com profile] aredblush! BUT DID THEY LISTEN? NOOOOOO.

Um. In my defense, you'd probably never see Arthur as a werewolf? :\ Yeah, I don't know. I neeeever said it wasn't a shitty idea. lol

[identity profile] delires.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
NO NO NO it is not a BAD idea. It is just one of those things which I personally am a bit allergic to. Like mpreg. Both things make me break out in hives. I have hang ups about 'truth' in writing. It is why I cannot cope with sci-fi or anything which feels ooc.

BUT PLEASE PLEASE DON'T APOLOGISE FOR THE CARE BEARS. They make people so happy. NEVER APOLOGISE FOR MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY!

OMG I NOW FEEL LIKE SOME KIND OF DISNEY VILLAIN FOR TAKING THE HAPPY AWAY!!! //////O\\\\\\

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
LOLOLOL

Well, we just look at 'truth' in writing completely differently, is all. I'm not big on sci-fi, but I like fantasy a lot. It's not about the situation, for me, it's about finding what it is underneath all of that that makes them real, makes them tick, makes them want to fall in love. Or what makes them not want it, even. Take a superhero, and show me what makes the human, that's truth, to me. It's like how I don't love zombie stories for the zombies, I love them for the survival, for the way people can still be people, and can still latch onto each other in the middle of the worst situation you can imagine.

Well, I also love zombies for all the metaphors they bring, but that's another thing altogether.

Um. My point here is: Disney villains aren't real?

[identity profile] delires.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I do take your point and actually largely agree. Like, superhero stuff is fine by me. And fantasy. I love that. I'm watching 'The Witches of Eastwick' like, as I type this. And certainly there is truth to be written in non-realistic settings. But, mm, with fanfic I just have a little bit of a knee jerk reaction to anthropomorphism. I don't think I can really articulate it beyond "NONO THAT IS WEIRD." Maybe because I like them as people and don't want that interrupted? I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW.

LOOK, AS LONG AS WE AGREE THAT I AM NOT EVIL THAT IS ALL THAT REALLY MATTERS.

[identity profile] angelgazing.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
LOL I don't exactly jump to anthropomorphism, really. I swear. I have lots of ideas that are other things! Like, um, a story entirely about Eames pulling Arthur's hair. I'm... not sure that's better. LOL But, I don't know, the point for me is always--how are they still the same people, and how are they different, and how good is the writer at reconciling the two? *hands*

I DON'T THINK THAT YOU ARE EVIL. SILLY.

[identity profile] delires.livejournal.com 2010-10-18 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Take your point. I suppose that is the premise of all AU, right?

A whole story about hair-pulling is fiiiiine. I just wrote a whole story about hiding under a bed. YOU CAN BUILD A STORY AROUND THE MOST TENUOUS IDEAS EVER.
