drag another cliche howling from the shelf
I woke up today thinking: my god, today is just going to be one long episode of suck.
It's a burden, sometimes, this always being right thing. :\
Since today clearly calls for a non-crazy-making question: What is your favorite fic cliche?
I am ready for spring break. Baring that, can I at least get some spring going around here, please? Now, my battle of wills with my computer continues. Sadly, I go into this war expecting to lose.

But, fav fic cliches--a great question! Because nothing makes a person happy like good fic, even if utterly cliched!
My favorite cliche: teenagers falling in love, like it's the first/last/best/only time it will be happening to them. Like Frank and Gerard fall in love in Nightswimming. It's beyond merely "happy" and "uplifting"--it's like a whole 'nother plane of existence.

Oh, oh, cliched fic is some of my very favorite ever, I can't lie about that. Fake boyfriends (a fauxmance, if you will)! Arranged marriages! Locked in a closet! Sharing body heat to survive! It's like comfort food, in a way. You know it's not really good for you, but sometimes, when you've had a hard day, it's all you really want.
Nightswimming slays me. It's that crazy, all consuming, I-can't-live-without-you-touching-me sort of thing that just gets me every single time. No character can ever throw themselves so completely headfirst into love like a teenager can. It's one of those things that manages to draw optimism out of the audience, because for the most part, we know how it'll end, but we keep hoping it'll be better for them. <3<3<3
