It was heartbreaking! I felt like I'd lost a friend. I mean, in a lot of ways it wasn't as bad for me as it was for others, because I'd pretty much switched to a full-time Spencer/Brendon shipper by then. (Because they are dorks, and failboats, and married or something.) I still can't really listen to Live in Chicago, because when Ryan and Jon start talking I get so, so sad.

If you're interested, Dreams From the Other Side (http://tigs.livejournal.com/710318.html) by tigs is a pretty great, sort of epic story, that goes through the divorce pretty in depth, but still stays a story about two boy and their dog, at the same time. It's Brendon/Spencer though, so if that's not you're thing I totally understand.
