It is stupid to try and outlaw fanfic. Just... extremely stupid. Not in least because, how can you not see that as something to be honored by? I long ago made it my goal in life to write something that has a fandom. lol It's one of the things that most makes me want to do the writing thing professionally. The changes to create character that catch other people's imaginations that way would be the coolest thing ever.

I see the bad about the slowpoke writing pace of JK Rowling, don't ever let me come across as sounding like I don't. Not least because if she doesn't get a move on then the 7th movie is probably going to have a different set of actors and I'd have to cry at the injustice of it. At the same time, however, I never think it's fair to compare fan fiction to canon, just because there are things that the canon writer can't do, where as the fanfic writer has no such limits. The lack of Draco character development in canon is... upsetting, disappointing, really. (And, ugh, I hate Ginny so damn much. Sure, yes, Harry is meant to be with her. Bah.) But I guess I see it in a lot of ways as that's why there's fanfic? I dunno.

The comments about OOCness in Anne Rice's characters is only made funnier by the fact that she totally refuses to see it. The woman is blinded by her own hype to such a degree that she doesn't take a second to think that she may have done something incorrectly. Granted, try and correct one of my sentences and I'll probably fight you every step of the way, but I'll listen to your concerns before I dismiss them completely. ;)

I've never read any of Cassie Claire's trilogy, I must admit. Though I've seen it recced by every one under the sun, I've also seen some, eh, less than stellar opinions of it. ::shrugs:: It's one of those time investment stories though, and I'm not a fan of going there.

I believe he'd consider very highly the fact that he'd be treated as a Death Eater's son, in case he happened to switch sides.

This is a really good point. I agree with you there. Draco is the one character I can most clearly see having the "better to rule in hell than serve in heaven" view of things. He would be treated like a Death Eater's son, (and, in fact, I originally had a line in the story about people spitting at his feet because "now that Harry Potter was through with him, he was Just Another Death Eater left over from the war.") and to such a degree that... Look at how Harry treats him in this, and, yes, a lot of that is Harry's issues, but part of it is because it's DRACO and he's easier for Harry to hate than himself.

Speaking of comments seeming too long... ;)
